Author: Jess Lourey
Synopsis (from bn.com).
Local legend claims that a diamond necklace was lost nearly a century ago in Whiskey Lake, not far from the present day Shangri-La resort. Mira, a part-time reporter, goes fishing for the story behind the legend, but her dives turn up more than missing jewelry. Buoyed by frozen Nut Goodies and a diminutive circus performer, the exhilarating search leads to a new mystery to unravel, and puts her face to face with the surfacing of a menacing foe from her past.
This is the second book in the Murder-by-Month series. I am not one at all for reading any book, much less cozies, out of order, but I happened to come across this series completely by mistake. I came across “June Bug” as a free download on Amazon Kindle one day and thought absolutely I needed to get it – after all it’s a cozy, and more importantly it was FREE 🙂
Anyway, I thought this book was alright – just ok. It is certainly not my favorite cozy series by any means and it isn’t my favorite main character in a series, but I probably will make my way through the rest of the series at some point.
The first book in the series, “May Day” was also recently a free download on Amazon, so I can now back up and see what I missed.
I don’t have much to say about this book unfortunately, other than it is a nice, simple, enjoyable read for cozy fans . . . and I flew through it on my iPad as I was sweating away on the elliptical! A great workout book!
FYI – the latest book in this Jess Lourey series “November Hunt” was just published 3/8/12.
