June 2012 New Cozy Releases!

Happy Tuesday all!  I can’t believe it has been a couple days since I posted – ahhh!  I promised myself I would keep up.  I bought a new bike (or should I say a bike) after not riding since I was a child and am addicted!  I am out every night 🙂

I was doing a little book research over the long weekend and there are some great new cozy mysteries coming out over the summer months.  It is time to catch up on those series you want to finish or even better time to start some new series!

Here are some great new cozy mysery releases in June!

Title:  Dead Man Waltzing (Ballroom Dance Mystery Series #2)

Author:  Ella Barrick

But Darlene’s triumph is short-lived after she’s found dead under her sewing table, apparently crushed by the heavy machine.

It soon becomes clear that this was no freak accident. Who had it in for Darlene Coddlefield? The long string of suspects includes Darlene’s fire chief husband. So Willow and her best friend, Haylee, become volunteer firefighters to uncover the truth. But when a second sewing machine sparks trouble, the friends realize they may have jumped from the frying pan into the fire…

Title:  Bonefire of the Vanities (Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery Series #12)

Author:  Carolyn Haines

Synopsis (from bn.com):

Despite the wishes of her overprotective fiancé, Sarah Booth Delaney can’t give up her detective work, no matter how dangerous it becomes. It’s too much a part of her. On this case, avoiding danger might be impossible—she’s on the trail of a porn-star-turned-psychic operating from a haunted estate on the edge of town. Medium Sherry Cameron promises to reunite grieving family members with their dearly departed, but it seems vaguely suspicious that Sherry will only accept emotionally vulnerable and tremendously wealthy clients. Aging billionaire Marjorie Littlefield fits the profile perfectly—her daughter died in a tragic accident as a young girl, she’s been estranged from her son for decades, and she’s planning to leave her considerable inheritance to her cat.

Convinced she’s uncovered a scheme to separate a lonely woman from her fortune, Sarah Booth talks her way onto the estate as a maid, where she finds Marjorie and several other wealthy eccentrics ready to commune with the dead. Between chores, Sarah Booth explores the estate, mingles with the other staff…and finds a few dead bodies. But which guest or staff member might be the killer? Even Jitty, Sarah Booth’s personal haint, won’t tell until Sarah Booth has uncovered all of Sherry’s well-kept secrets.

With spooks and charlatans around every corner, Sarah Booth is the only PI in the southlands who can put an end to this elaborate scam in Bonefire of the Vanities, the charming twelfth entry in Carolyn Haines’s sparkling series.

Title:  Tote Bags and Toe Tags (Haley Randolph Mystery Series #6) (I have read the first two – loved them!)

Author:  Dorothy Howell

Synopsis (from bn.com):

Haley Randolph’s new job as a corporate events coordinator suits her like classic Chanel—as long as no one finds out her only degree is from bartending school. But then again, trouble’s always afoot in the life of this amateur sleuth/professional fashionista…

On Haley’s first day on the job, she finds the chief of security—who was performing Haley’s background check—bludgeoned in her office. Naturally, the police peg Haley as their prime suspect, so she’ll need to shop around on her own for some guilt-proof clues. Especially since some of the other recent hires at the company also have something to hide…

One of her new co-workers leads a double life—as in two wives and two sets of children. Another makes secretive, unexplained trips out of the country. Between her many investigations, the new high-pressure job, and her just-moved-in boyfriend, there’s almost no time for the most important thing in Haley’s life: maxing out her credit card.

And it seems the company’s squeaky-clean image is covering a lot of dirty truths. Though Haley’s turning up a grab bag of suspects while squeezing in a few sales, the murderer is still knocking off her co-workers. If she’s going to catch this killer, she’ll need to be on her toes—heels and all—or she’ll be this season’s hottest victim.

Title:  Hot Button (Button Box Mystery Series #2) (I read the first one – like the series!)

Author:  Kylie Logan

Synopsis (from bn.com):

Button collector Josie Giancola has a sharp eye for detail, and a love for keeping things together. But when a murder interrupts her button business, she’s always ready to snap into action…

As chairwoman of an international conference for button collectors, Josie has plenty to worry about. Between greeting collectors, overseeing the dinner cruise, and attending to the many needs of the guest of honor, Thad Wyant, she barely has time to deal with her gorgeous ex-husband…let alone a dead body.

But when Thad is found dead in a hotel linen closet, Detective Nevin Riley needs Josie to help him solve the case. Mr. Wyant’s historic Geronimo button has gone missing, and considering how many enemies he’s made in the small and peculiar world of button collectors, Josie will have to act fast—before she becomes history herself…

Includes tips on antique button collecting!

Title:  Cast On Kill Off (Knitting Mystery Series #10)

Author:  Maggie Sefton

Synopsis (from bn.com):

Wedding bells are ringing in Fort Connor, Colorado, and the House of Lambspun knitters are abuzz with excitement. But when a murder interrupts the wedding planning, Kelly Flynn will have to solve this crime fast to ensure the killer doesn’t wind up on the guest list…

Kelly Flynn’s knitting pal, Megan, is about to get hitched, and all the planning is falling into place. Megan has found the perfect seamstress, Zoe Yeager, to create the dresses for Kelly and the other bridesmaids. And each bridesmaid is knitting her own loose-knit shawl to drape over the lovely dresses. But Zoe has more than bolts of fabric and seam-cutters stashed away in her shop—she’s harboring a secret. Bruises on her face show a troubling side of her marriage, and just after she finds the courage to leave her husband, Zoe’s found dead from a single bullet shot.

Though her husband is a key suspect, it turns out there are others who might have had designs on Zoe’s death. One is fellow seamstress Leann O’Hara, who recently discovered Zoe won a bridal gown design contest with one of Leann’s own designs. Now it’s up to Kelly and her knitting pals to use their sleuthing savvy to solve the case, while helping Megan stay cool and collected as the big day approaches. They’ll have to stitch up all the loose ends before they can don their dresses and shawls and escort Megan into the land of happily ever after…

I can’t wait to see what new releases July brings!

Happy reading,

And remember,

Books Are Life,

Heather
