Title:  Trudy, Madly, Deeply

Author:  Wendy Delaney (www.wendydelany.com)

Publisher:  Corvallis Press

Series:  Working Stiffs Mystery #1

Synopsis (from Amazon.com): Human lie detector Charmaine Digby is having a bad year. After eating her way through a divorce, she’s out of work and up to her eyeballs in debt. In need of
a life makeover Char comes home to the senior citizen haven of Port Merritt,
Washington, and is ecstatic when she parlays her eye for lies into a job as the
County Coroner’s new assistant. But her joy is short-lived when a hunky doctor
at the hospital reports the suspicious death of Trudy, Port Merritt’s beloved
Story Lady. Even more stunning, Trudy isn’t the only recent patient whose heart
mysteriously stopped.
Is it mad to think that dear old Trudy could be the
latest victim of a serial killer?
With no physical evidence of foul play,
Char’s on the case, much to the irritation of Detective Steve Sixkiller, who
doesn’t want her to stick her pretty nose for trouble in his investigation. But
she’s a woman on a mission to uncover the truth, and she’d better keep her eyes
open or the next body on the way to the morgue could be hers….

My thoughts:  I truly enjoyed this cozy mystery.   I read a lot of cozy mysteries and anyone who has ever read my cozy reviews knows that I enjoy a main character who is a strong, female presence and love even better when that main character is hilarious as well!  Char certainly meets these criteria.

I found the book funny, engaging, and a true pleasure to read.  The characters were well developed and like any good first book in a series, left you wanting to know more about the characters, . . .  What is their back story?  How did they get in the situation they are in now?  How will their relationships develop?

Truly a fun, witty book with hilarious moments and lovable characters!

I look forward to reading more in the Working Stiffs Mystery series!  I wonder what book 2 will entail??? Do tell, Wendy!!!!

As for what’s next for Char, she’ll be doing more sleuthing in Sex, Lies and Snickerdoodles, book 2 in the Working Stiffs Mystery series (tentatively scheduled for March 2014) — so more fun with Char, Steve, Marietta and the rest of the Port Merritt gang is coming soon! 🙂
