After her divorce from Max, an out-of-work actor she’s dubbed “The Great Impersonator,” Suzanne decided to pursue her one true passion in life: donuts. So she cashed in her settlement and opened up shop in the heart of her beloved hometown.

But when a dead body is dumped on her doorstep like a sack of flour, Suzanne’s cozy little shop becomes an all-out crime scene. Now, everyone in town is dropping by for glazed donuts and gruesome details. The retired sheriff warns her to be careful—and they’re all suspects. Soon Suzanne—who finds snooping as irresistible as donuts—is poking holes in everyone’s alibis…

My thoughts:  Well, I finally got around to starting this cozy series, The Donut Shop Mysteries.  They have been building up on my shelf over the last couple of years and I was finally ready to jump in.   In this cozy series we meet Suzanne Hart who opens up Donut Hearts donut/coffee shop after her divorce.  I really enjoyed this book.  Like many cozies, the characters are warm, inviting, quirky, and of course like to solve murders when they aren’t running their shops or pouring coffees 🙂  You just have to love the complete craziness of cozies sometimes 🙂

I also found the actual location of the book, namely the Donut Hearts shop, to be warm, inviting, homey, and a place that I definitely want to stop in each morning to get a warm, fresh donut and a cup of coffee!  I always look for a warm inviting location in my cozies and the Donut Hearts fits the bill!

I look forward to returning to Donut Hearts for the rest of the series and see what Sarah and the gang get into next!

An inviting, warm cozy read that is quick and delightful . . . and that makes you hungry for donuts!  There are plenty of donut recipes throughout the book to take care of your craving!

And remember,

Books Are Life,

Heather
